Should I get my belly button pierced?

My ears are very sensitive and I cannot wear any fake jewlery without them getting infected. I know every who gets their belly button pierced gets an infection, but will it be worse for me? Or does the skin on your belly button have nothing to do with your ears and I am worrying too much?Should I get my belly button pierced?
Got mine done a few years back and have had no problems with it-although my ears are triple pierced and they get infected constantly unless I wear sterling silver or white gold!!!! Go for it sista-it's really cool-just do what the piercer tells you as far as after care! Good luck!!

I personally wouldn't risk my health for a pierced belly button. One of my young co-workers had that done and got an infection, it didn't look good for awhile. Do what you feel you need to do, but do some reading about the pros and cons of piercings before you decide to do it.
Why do you want to do something like that, self-mutilation? Stay the way you where made.

i think there must be restrictions for commercial vehicles in residential areas as they cause a lot of disturbance 4 residents mostly during d night.Trucks mostly move on roads in midnight n wid there horns, so loud n irritating..sounds they produce

The noise, and commotion shouldn't matter. The safety of citizens should.
I would say to keep commercial vehicles out of kid safe areas, such as schools, and parks.
Heavy vehicles should strictly be not allowed in resdential areas.
I hear this a lot...did you ever stop to realize that if it weren't for commercial vehicles like concrete trucks and lumber delivery trucks and asphalt trucks and the like...your houses wouldn't be there!!!!!!!!!! Thank Heavens for trucks. If you have anything at all you can bet that it came on a truck.

Shortness of breath, is it because of lack of sleep?

I have been getting shortness of breath recently. It comes and goes but i don't know why. Someone said to me it was because i haven't been getting enough sleep. So i tried to go to sleep earlier and that doesn't help.Shortness of breath, is it because of lack of sleep?

I really dont think lack of sleep would do that to you. You may be slightly asmatic, go get checked up by the GP and they can run some small tests.
In some cases it's the other way around, but in any case it sounds like you might have sleep apnea. Talk to your doctor; he might be able to refer you to a sleep clinic or something like that if that's what is needed.
I seriously do think that it is related to lack of sleep. Last year I'd sleep less than 5 hours per night and go to school at 7 in the morning. I used to have serious shortness of breath issues back then which totally disappeared after I regulated my sleeping pattern

Sharp pain&weak leg?

This morning when I got up from my bed, there was this weird, giving out feeling in my left leg. This happened to me for about 10 minutes and then it was gone. When i got back from school in the afternoon, the sharp pain came back again. It has never happened before. It doesn't hurt but it feels like its kind of sharp, and my whole leg goes weak for half a second. Also, this slight sharp pain seems to be comming from my inner leg, maybe even my bone.

could be anything from a blood clot, to nerve problem to muscle pull or contraction...get it checked out ASAP
It sounds like it may be nerve related. You may have slept on it wrong or may have a compression that may require treament. If it doesn't get better and resolve in a few days then go see your doctor. If it gets worse go to the doctor as soon as you can. Hope this helps.

Shaky hands?

I have shaky hands according to my girlfriends mom. I'm only 14. My girlfriends mom saw me last night and said I was shaking while I was eating dinner and I think it was just because I was nervous. Now her mom thinks I'm on drugs(I'm not, honest to god). So is it just from being nervous or is it just me?Shaky hands?
Sounds like nerves to me and there's not much you can do about that except try to be a little more outgoing and accept yourself in differing situations. Don't think you can't match up or act the way others do, just get comfortable with who you are and you will begin to fit in. (PS: As an adult, it was up to your mother's friend to make you feel welcome and ease your discomfort). Keep trying and don't use shyness as an excuse. BE BOLD. LIKE YOURSELF FIRST! Everything else will come easily.

the prefix 'hyper' means over so it would mean overly sexual. it probably could be genetic because it has to do with hormones, and you inherit those from your parents.
Also, i've never heard about hypersexuality needing to be treated, I suppose if it in any way interferes with your every day life in a way that is harmful than you could take a mood stabilizer...

I spent 5 years on Seroxat (age 23 to 28). Initially it seemed helpful but I had some real downers trying to come off it. Eventually succeeded by taking a low dose of Diazipam to help me combat the effects of withdrawal from the drug. ( I had begun taking this alongside the Seroxat because the Seroxat was no longer enough, and I had sense enough to realise I was on a slippery slope if I allowed this dependency to increase.) Always been anxious but I do feel so much better six years later knowing all I achieve comes from me and I haven't this dependency on pills to get me through stressful situations.

Severe, Chronic Pain in Hips with no findings in an MRI. What could be the cause?

I have had hip pain for over a year now and it has recently become much more severe. My Dr. ordered an MRI and called to tell me that it shows no reason for my pain. I am frustrated, as I thought the MRI would tell us how to make it better. I am young and should not be in this much pain, but here I am.

I am starting school next week for nursing, the school had me print out this health exam sheet to turn give to my doctor so she can give me a complete physical... well I don't have health insurance anymore and I can't pay for out of pocket... It's best to use when the injury is still healing, but it does work even after it's healed. Roommate conflict- Advise?

My roommate comes in very drunk most days of the week. She's not too loud about it. It's ironic that we're roommate this semester because last semester I had a hard time with alcohol and I left my roommate( not b/c of alcohol related issues). However, this girl crossed the line when she did something that wasn't only disrespectful toward me but also to her self. ( involves a boy) I asked for a a roommate agreement form and tried to fill it out with her. She was very very angry about it even though I was being so understand about the fact that she disrespected me. I see myself in her. She is the person I was while I was drinking uncontrollably. Although I am only an LPN, I too had to take the NCLEX, and my instructor suggested we get a review book from the local book store that has questions similar to those on the test, we also had a review course but the main thing to remember is if you have made it all the way through the courses of study you know what is on it just dont let fear knock you out of your dream, and yes i did pass with only 85 questions my test computer shut off and I was petrified for the next 3 days, but the test is not nearly as bad as you think it will be
You should not be petrified - otherwise you will only fail that test. I suggest you focus your mind and take a break for a while from your books and reviewers and take a walk in the park. As they say: "the more you read - the more you forget" - so just let the big exam day come and face the challenge head-on. God Bless!

Ringing in ears-on antibiotics, stilling ringing?

my boyfriend is on an antibiotic for his ringing in ears, the doctor said he could not see anything, and gave him augmentin, he has been on it for about 5-6 days now. he still has the non-stop ringing, and now feels pain, says the ringing is very loud. it is his right ear.it came on all of a sudden a few weeks ago. is this tinnitus or an inner ear infection-or are they the same thing? will his ringing ever go away. i figured if it was an ear infection the antibiotic would have cleared it up, so i'm afraid it is ear damage, but he is not around noisy stuff for long periods of time, so i'm confused. can ear nose and throat specialists be able to tell him what is wrong for sure, unlike the medical doctor at the clinic?Ringing in ears-on antibiotics, stilling ringing?
I'm a nurse and yes see an ENT specialist. I think that the doctor is either treating something he don't have or the medication isn't effective, get another opinion. I'm so sorry your boyfriend is suffering. He can also use an OTC medication called earache relief (generic will do just fine). I hope this helps until he sees the doctor. Oh and ibuprofen will ease the pain. Take care

Home depot sells plastkote which is like a glue and is mean to coat tools. It is available in black. Try that. Otherwise you need to replace the arms (if that is what they are called) of the glasses... buy a cheap pair of sunglasses and use it from there.
Buying an arm of the glasses is not that expensive.

Be careful when you put your contacts in. If you have long fingernails you could have accidentally scrapped your conjunctivia(thin layer over the white of your eye where the vessels are).
Be careful getting wind/dirt in your eyes because you could be rubbing your eye and a speck of dirt scratched your eye.
Straining when using the bathroom can cause thin vessels to break like this.
Coughing alot when you have a cold can also cause a thin vessel to break.
Uncontrolled blood pressure is definately a possibility as well though if you are as young as I feel that you are,this is probably not your problem.
Straining when lifting heavy objects can do this as well.
Watch it for a few days and before you know it,it will be gone and if not then make yourself feel better and see your eye doctor.

my mother in law just lost her leg to diabeties. she is 61 and i am trying to find ways of helping her deal with her loss. she feels trapped in this house, but has all kinds of places that she can go, but doesnt want to. and now she is starting to get snappy about anything that happends. i just dont know how to help her out. what do i do from here?!!!!Recent amputation--- see the details?
Check with the hospital or local social services to see if there's an amputee support group that would be appropriate for her. The social services people should be following up with her anyway.
Is she being fitted for a prosthesis (artificial leg)? If not, can you find out why not? If she is, then she'll need therapy to learn to use it, and that will get her out, too.
Be patient, too -- she has a lot to work through and it won't happen all at once. She may be depressed, and her family doctor may refer her for counseling and/or prescribed medication for that. (And don't forget, this is the time of year that able-bodied people start getting cabin fever and snapping at people. So don't attribute everything solely to the amputation.)

You want to first empower her to care for herself as much as possible. If she has a power w/c or still drives, she might actually be ashamed to leave the house and be seen.

You're right -- that is a weird question. It goes against my better judgment to advise someone to do something harmful. I can't imagine why anyone would want anything like that. Sorry. To get a tapeworm, eat raw beef and raw chicken. Not so much to kill you. Just enough, a few chunks daily. Add seasoning to taste. I don't make it a habit but I used to take chunks of meat from the cutting board my mom had on the table. At first I got a tapeworm from the "thefts" but after awhile, my belly got used to it and no more worms. And yeah, I'm still at it.
How about home-made poison?...whatever ur suffering from can be fixed...GET HELP...FAST!!!!!

It sounds like you might have tonsilitus. You should go to the doctor and get on some meds for an infection. In the meantime, you need to get a glass of warm, not hot, water and stir in about a tablespoon full of table salt and gargle with it until the water is all gone. Don't drink the water like that, it will make you sick, just gargle until it is all gone. This will make your throat feel better and it will aid in healing the infection as well. The medicine is very important, so be sure to call the doctor and get some anti-biotics too! Hope you feel better soon!

I had a simular problem my tonsils were completely swelled but I struggled to breath. Swallowing was a nitemare in itself. You maybe have tonsilitus, possibly mono, you should go to the doctor to get it checked out and see what they got to say.

the mucinex twice daily and lots, lots of water are the best solutions. A humidifier in your bedroom also makes a huge difference, and wearing a breathright strip will help with the headaches.

Drink something carbonated and eat some crackers - something crunchy to try & "scrape" the mucous out of the throat.
If you have some mentholyatum or eucalyptus oil. Boil some water put in in a bowl, add a couple of drops of the oil or a half tsp. of the menthol & lean over the bowl (with a towel over your head to keep the steam around your face being careful to not get too close to the water)to help drain your sinus.
The headache might be from your sinuses as well....take something for the pain and go to bed.

Rapid Weight Gain?

Two and a half years ago I was considered in good weight. (I was 18 and weighed around 115 lbs.) When suddenly I began gaining weight. I had been on an antidepressent (Zoloft) for two years prior to this weight gain..and still am to this day..but anyway. My thyroid was slightly out of balance (hypothyroidism) but was very quickly taken care of about 3 monthes after i began gaining weight. Despite the normalized thryroid, I still kept gaining weight. One and a half years after this weight gain began...I weighed 85 lbs more than i had (roughly 200lbs now). I'm still around this weight now. I know that there has to be something wrong with my body, but I (and doctors) have not found anything. I have been tested for Cushing Syndrome and Diabetes. My thyroid is constantly checked to maintain a good balance with my thyroid meds. So my question is:

Question about my dreams...?

Lately I have been having horrible nightmares at least three times a week. My fiance has to wake me up in the middle of the night because I'm breathing so hard that he thinks I'm having panic attacks in my sleep. Pushing height growth?

Due to some reasons, I've been quite (very >_>) inactive the past 3 years. I'm 20 right now.
I don't remember how tall I was before, but right now, I'm 6 feet 1 inch tall.
But somehow, I feel that I haven't grown much taller in those 3 years. And my tummy's bulged and gone curvy a bit >__>
So I'm wondering, in a few months I'm gonna start working out again. No gym.. just streching, push ups, sit ups, running and maybe dumbells.
Will I grow taller since I'll be active again? Even just a bit? Possible? Any specific exersices for this?

Problems with a Nostril Piercing?

I got my nose pierced at the end of December. I ended up getting a sinus infection a week later! Since then I have have this red bump on and off surrounding my nose piercing. I tried Aspirin but the piercing ended up falling through my nose. Tea Tree Oil seems to work well. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions? Let me know.Problems with a Nostril Piercing?
I had the same problem.The only thing that worked was washing it with dial soap everyday.The bump went away in about a week.It works well even after for just keeping it clean.GOOD LUCK!

In my experience as a nurse to dying people on hospice the answer would be no, even when my mother died I could not find anybody to take the meds that were left over, what usually happens is they must be destroyed with a witness(just another person) to verify you destroyed them. Ask the pharmacy that prescribed them what to do with them in your state, they will know.
Any nurses or med techs that work in a nursing home or hospital have access to the drugs, and it happens. My daughter works in a nursing home as a Med Tech, and there were always drugs missing. She knew who it was. The girl had stolen approx. $10,000 worth of drugs to support her and her husband's habits. It will be going to trial sometime this year.

Didn't hear anything about that. You used to have your liver function tested before after and during the lamasil treatment from your doctor. I took it about 8 years ago for 6 months and it worked wonders on my toenails. Make sure you read warning very carefully before you start using it.

Have you tried to fix it yourself? I'd suggest that you try that first. I've had it done several times and now I can do it myself. A lot of people get sick in the winter. It's called the cold and flu season. It happens mainly because people tend to stay indoors in the winter keeping them in close contact with others which spreads germs quickly. Also the lack of sunlight and fresh air can bring down a person's immune system. Try to wash hands frequently and go outside as much as possible. If you want you can try taking a multivitamin, it seems to help some people. I have lived in Minnesota all my life and almost everyone I know gets sick at least once in the winter. It's just a part of life. Get used to it.

when you are born up north (i'm in minnesota) you get used to the cold, and winter type germs. your body knows how to fight those bacteria. your family is simply not used to it, i believe.
also, the cold can be making you tired. really, i do think it will just take some time for yourbody to adjust. the lack of daylight could be a factor.

they will go away, you probably just have sensitive skin. you shouldn't use that stuff any more. try looking for products that say for use on sensitive skin this will help.
You are probably allergic to the tanning oil.. DO NOT USE IT ANYMORE!!!!! it is probably one of those chemicals............. if they do not go away then talk to your doctor!!

probably just an allergic reaction to a chemical in the lotion. You could try putting some benadryl cream on it.
If it spreads or doesn't show any sign of improvement in 3-5 days, you should see a doctor.
Often times perfume causes that kind of reaction and I'm sure there's perfume in your tanning lotion...
I get the same thing when I spray perfume directly on to my skin, not usually from lotions, though... but I know people who do.
I'm 99% sure it's nothing to worry about.

It can take a very long time for a trapped nerve to heal, my husband has them all the time, in his back, shoulder and neck.
He used to go to physio but it was not doing him any good, as he also has spine trouble.
So all he can do now is take anti inflamatries, use heat pads, heat sprays and gels.
But you do have to read them first as some you cannot use on your neck.
It also depends on each person, to how long the recover time is.
Phisios are hopeless. I went ten times and nothing happened.
Then went to a Chiropracter and in no time my trapped nerve was free!

i've asked this question before, but it's just that i have this sensation of diziness or drowziness (SOMETIMES) and I feel strange, and I feel really aggressive and angry, and I feel dizzy, nervous, and very tired. The room starts spinning, I see people differently, and I don't remember things. I feel like I'm talking louder than usual, etc.... Some people suggested it that it was hypoglycemia, however I checked on what that was and it stated that hypoglycemia was only if you ate very little, and in my opinion, I eat A LOT. She was all there, she walked and man could she talk. I would go down every morning after breakfast and see her. She would give me a pepsi and we would sit and talk about school, my parents, who she didn't even know, just anything. And I did it for three summers till she passed away. I went to her funeral and her kids whom I never met, came up and talked to me and told me that their mom talked about me alot!! You'll find that it'll also make you feel better to help out!

Your ears, nose, and throat are all connected, so unfortunately problems with one often means problems with them all. I used to get awful ear infections, and had strep throat more often than anyone should, but things improved over the years.
The thing is, once its in your lungs, like bronchitis, it can take a long time to get better. It's difficult to say what might be wrong, but try to take care of yourself as best you can and see what the doc suggests.
i dont know wat could be in your lungs maybe asthma or more numonia, but i was just going to tell u that i have not busted my ear drums but when i was born my ears didnt hear well so i got ear tubes and they helped me hear very well. now i got them taken out and i hear wonderfully u might want too concider but im no docter but that is wat i know. get well soon and i hope the doctors fid out wats wrong and cure u quickly.

Please help me with Earwax problem!?

My ears are very clogged and have never drained properly. They hurt for a few days so I went to the doctors. She said there was so much earwax that she couldn't see anything. Because it was painful, she recommended waiting a week before syringing (lavaging) it out. It didn't hurt the next day so I put olive oil in it for two days and then tried using a bulb syringe to flush it out. Then I couldn't hear at all so I went back and saw another doctor at an urgent care facility. He said the wax was very wet and lavaging for 12 hours wouldn't remove it. He gave me acetic acid otic drops. I've been using them for 4 days and it's getting worse. I can't hear anything from that ear and it burns and gets very warm when I put in the drops. I'm getting very dizzy and the other ear is very clogged as well. My head wants to explode because I can't get relief from the pressure. Is there anything else the doctor can do to get this wet wax out?Please help me with Earwax problem!?
Hydrogen peroxide will dissolve ear wax painlessly, but it tickles like heck. Put a few drops in one ear at a time and lie still on your side for about 5 minutes, let it drain out and do the other ear. You may need to repeat the ceremony to get it all out. When you're done, flush gently with warm water to remove the traces of wax and peroxide.
whew, sounds rotten. I had a similar problem almost ten years ago, I tried everything. Seemed to me that ear candling, followed by three or four drops of 50/50 white vinegar & hydrogen peroxide did the trick. The candling takes alot of the wax out, and the vinegar and peroxide prevent infection and dry the ear out. Good luck with it...and be careful, if you are getting dizzy it sounds like you might have an inner ear infection. Use comments you find at your own risk BTW.

Ok 7 months ago, I got this weird feeling all throughout my body, like this electrical feeling going through my body for 6 weeks, finally did an mri which was normal, also did one of my cervial spine that showed 3 bulging disks which i was treated for, which we blamed all my symptoms on the disks, now 7 months later I have the same exact symptoms, my body is tingling all over and some parts feel like they are burning, as if i got a sun burn, no numbness just major pins and needles for 2 weeks straight, sometime my body gets soo cold, i feel like im in the snow, saw a neuro yesterday and he said ms only effects one side of the body, is this true? I have had several surgeries - so what I am telling you is from experience. Of course, I don't want any more surgeries, but I believe it is better to know what to expect than to be frightened by the unknown.

Start by drinking plenty of water and get atleast 8 hours of sleep a night. Stress can be your worst enemy as far as your complexion is concerned. Try relaxing at night with some herbal tea with chamomile. Also if you need to cover up, try some foundation that matches your skin color. Also see your doctor as to some stress relieving remedies you could try. Exercise is also great at relieving stress and depression. Nothing strenuous, maybe some stretching and mild aerobics. I would take it into the Pharmacy and ask them, it does although sound like Advil or Alieve one of them but I would ask your pharmacy!

Phobia of vomiting???

is there anyways to get over this phobia and how? its ruining my life. i feel nauseated all the time. i have headaches i dont go see anyone and idont want to see friends or have them come over because i always feell like i could get sick. and i dont want to get sick infront of them cause i feel they would feel grossed out. what can i do. i dont go aywhere or do anything with my son because i always feel nauseated. i hardly eat cause i feel worse. and nothing works. i feel like i want to cry.. anyone else out there like this??? please help!!!Phobia of vomiting???
It's important to see your doctor if you've been nauseated for a long period of time, especially if your lack of appetite has been causing weight loss. I've been having symptom similiar to yours for a couple of months now, and even though I'm tryin to get the problem (whatever it is) fixed, it still cost me my job. And keep trying to drink small amounts of fluids throughout the day, dehydration could be causing the headaches. But do go see your doctor, they can give you medicine to help with the nausea and find a diagnosis. Also look into talking with a counselor or psychologist. Alot of times, stress can cause stomach problems.

It depends: you can reuse them if they have not been placed under light or heat. Under heat they release a substance which, in the long run, might cause cancer (this is what my prof. of chemistry told me).

i was a little congested last week so i thought i was just coming down with a cold. but it got worse and i ccouldnt even go to school and now im basically coughing out my lungs. its getting more and more painful the more i cough. ive tried cough medicine. about 4 kinds, but none of them helped.Persistant cough that will not go away?
You should see a Physician.
You could have a mild inflammatory response in your lungs. This inflammation comes along with clear mucus build up. This causes a chronic cough that just won't seem to go away after a cold or a n upper respiratory infection.
It could be a form of Asthma called Reactive Airway Disease.
It is treatable with inhaled medications. It will resolve quickly with proper treatment.
You may have had this problem much of your life and never knew it. You may have had "Bronchitis" a lot as a kid?
See a Doctor, and better see a Pulmonologist--a lung specialist.
I bet you have yourself a good old fashioned case of bronchitis. Best to get checked out to confirm this and make sure you do not have walking pneumonia.

Permanent pen fake tattoo, how long will it last?

Was just trying out a tattoo design on myself, and I used a black 'permanent' marker pen. Obviously will rub off, but how long until then do you think?Permanent pen fake tattoo, how long will it last?

but should last long enough 4 u 2 decide whether u like it or not.
as ur skin-sheds, u'll lose the fake tat.
kinda depends where it is & whether ur coming in2 contact with water.
does'nt matter, the important part is THAT IT COMES OFF !
The permanent pen will have just marked the outer layer of your skin (epidermis) which as far as I know renews itself in a matter of weeks (depending how often you wash, exfoliate the area). Your tattoo should wear out in the same amount of time you lose a deep tan after a couple of weeks of exposure to the sun (sunny holidays or mountain), for example. Patience ... All the best.
